Some time ago, I made this for a self portrait project:
It may be a “love song,” but to me it has always been about more than just romantic love. In this season of love, joy, and belonging, take a minute to block out the hate. Find someone who needs your love and love them. Find someone who needs to be heard and listen.
There is a lot of dissonance in the holiday season this year. Hanukkah started yesterday – a festival that celebrates the promise that in the darkest of times, there is light. Diwali is coming up, the Hindu festival of lights, which celebrates the triumph of light over dark, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.
Carry the lovelight in your eyes, friends. Bless others by your love, and never take advantage of the love that others offer you. This is my wish for you in the holiday season.
